Luke, Misty, Liam, Phoebe, and Oliver Miller
We moved to Asheville 20 years ago, fresh out of grad school and off a couple summers working at Nantahala Outdoor Center. We decided to move to Asheville and “see if we can find jobs.” So young and carefree - it seems like a lifetime ago! Luke had some experience building ropes courses and immediately started pursuing homebuilding as a career. With a background in team building, and a desire to have a career that was relationship driven, he loved the idea of creating the most important structure in a family’s life. It also satisfied his desire to create, yet work in an arena that is tangible, useful, and where he could participate in environmentally sustainable practices. Luke started apprenticing under a veteran builder, who is native to the Asheville area. He spent 3 years learning every detail that goes into building a home - and literally spent his days swinging a hammer and doing the building. Meanwhile, Misty put her degree to work in Corporate America. In 2003, we decided we were ready to start our own company, and began by building new homes with environmentally sustainable attributes. Misty soon realized that she preferred sleeping in her own bed and exploring her own town far more than power-lunching on the road. She jumped full force into the company in the summer of 2004. In 2007, with the economy in chaos and people unable to buy or build new homes, we expanded our focus from solely new home construction to include remodels and additions. We quickly began to realize that the most effective way to help our clients was to help them love the home they were already in! This was also reflective of our own home experience - a 100 year old Bungalow with neighbors we adore. We remodeled our sweet little home when we moved in in 2004 and couldn’t imagine our lives somewhere else. We began to get calls to remodel some of the most beautiful old homes in our city, and found the work incredibly satisfying. This expansion to our way of thinking also allows us to have deeper, more meaningful relationships with the families we work with, because time working together and collaborating extends into every phase of the project. Due in large part to our uniquely transparent business model, we are proud to say that our clients most often become our friends. We currently work nearly solely from referrals, and do a healthy mix of building new custom homes, remodels (most in historical neighborhoods), and additions.
We are a family business, not a production builder, and we manage every aspect of your project ourselves - from design drawings to final walk-through. We operate with an unprecedented level of transparency and are invested in your happiness with the home you live in. We would love to talk to you about the home you’re ready to create!
